The Ultrasonic Flowmeter Model Transit Time PTFM 1.0, manufactured by Pulsar, is a portable flowmeter designed for measuring the velocity of clean, non-aerated fluids in ideally filled pipes. It is recommended for fluids such as water, glycol, oil, and most chemicals. The Ultrasonic Flowmeter PTFM 1.0 attaches externally to pipes with diameters ranging from 50.2 millimeters to 1.2 meters (2 inches to 4 feet). The ultrasonic signal passes through all common materials of metal and plastic pipes. PTFM 1.0 can be installed without interrupting flow, and it is free from clogging or pressure drop.

This portable flowmeter is suitable for measuring pure and non-aerated liquids such as water, chemicals, and oil, with less than 2 percent solid particles or bubbles. The ultrasonic flowmeter can be mounted on both vertical and horizontal pipes. The portable PTFM 1.0 Transit-Time Flowmeter operates by measuring the “time of flight” or “transit time” of ultrasonic pulses transmitted from one transducer to another. The time of flight in the direction of flow is shorter than the time of flight in the opposite direction of flow. By comparing these differences with precise timing circuits, the PTFM 1.0 can accurately calculate the flow rate.
