dB Transducers

The ultrasonic level sensors of the dB Transducer series from Pulsar Measurement are a collection of level sensors designed for wastewater and industrial environments. The Digital Adaptive Tracking Echo Movement (DATEM) is an echo detection system at the core of DATEM’s operation, distinguishing actual moving signals from background noise and tracking them while ignoring all competing signals.

This enables Pulsar Measurement’s ultrasonic level sensors to operate in wet wastewater wells, noisy silos, and even agitated mixing tanks. The DATEM system also seeks signals within a very narrow frequency range, aiding in the rejection of acoustic and electrical noise, ensuring excellent performance, especially in challenging environments.

The high-power range of the dB ultrasonic transducer allows easy monitoring of all echoes with a single command, resulting in highly reliable level measurements for previously inaccessible applications. Thanks to DATEM technology, the effective beam angle of dB and dBi ultrasonic sensors is typically within 3 degrees. The non-contact design of the dB ultrasonic level sensors allows uninterrupted installation and operation without the need for time-consuming repairs and maintenance, while also providing highly accurate non-contact level measurements.

Pulsar Measurement’s ultrasonic level sensors offer several optional features, including immersion shields, PVDF, and inherently safe versions for sensors installed in hazardous locations, among many other options. Immersion shields are useful for keeping the transducer face clean in applications where sensor submersion is possible. In case of immersion, the controller can be instructed to stop at the top or bottom or hold the last reading while the sensor is out of service. When the level reaches below the immersion shield, it allows the controller to resume operation with a clean transducer.

All dB transducers are compatible with the entire range of Pulsar controllers, so when your measurement needs change, your system won’t need to.
